- Out of the box!
Ideas from our survey:
- Formulating a creative and authentically intercultural definition of the term globalization, perhaps through dance, monatge, debate, rapping, histotic texts, etc...
- A socratic dialogue with a multicultural group on the subject of globalization.
- Networking speed-meeting: 3 minutes to talk to each other about our work before they move on to share knowledge and know-how.
- Meet the seniors: An opportunity for new interculturalists to meet experts in the field in an informal seminar-type format.
- Active participation by major global companies and their leaders as well as NGOs --firsthand experience from those directly engaged in the process and effects of globalization.
- Creative use of the very special historical context of Granada and Andalucia to explore intercultural themes.
- A jobs and opportunities corner.

Congress
theme:
How globalization affects cultures & cultures shape globalization
|
Boundaries between cultures, nations, organizations and groups of people are being transcended every day in the globalization of commerce, education, and ideas. Are we engaged in a fight or a dance, conflict or convergence? Granada 2008 will explore how globalization impacts national and local cultures and, in turn, how the culture of globalization is shaped by the cultures of its agents.
To explore this theme we surveyed interculturalists around the world and summarized their big and little questions for you. But the real question is:
What will you bring to and what will you take away from this congress?

This World Population Map provided by ODT Inc. to last year's SIETAR Europa Congress participants gave us a new way to see the world. How else does globalization affect how people see their world.? |
more ideas...
- Nametags to identify people with common (or different) interests.
- linguistic analysis for examining the link between culture and globalization - both on the level of national culture and organisational culture.
- High level research on how schools can effectively educate youth to get out of their national, cultural box.
